Our Mission

Our goals with this endeavour

Mission Statement

NL Vintage Telephony is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and showcasing the rich heritage of analogue telephony in Newfoundland and Labrador.

We strive to safeguard historic telephone equipment, educate the public on its technical and cultural significance, and keep the craft of vintage telephony alive through ongoing restoration work, demonstrations, and community engagement.

Our long-term vision is to establish a permanent museum and learning space where collections, exhibits, and hands-on experiences can be shared with future generations; similar to the Connections Museum Seattle.

Needs & Priorities

1. Physical Space / Museum Location
We are seeking a potential permanent home to display restored equipment, host workshops, and store the growing collection. Our long-term goal is to establish a dedicated museum and learning space in Newfoundland and Labrador.

2. Equipment Donations & Leads
We are actively searching for vintage telephony hardware, including:

  • Nortel Centurion payphones
  • Nortel Millennium payphones
  • Classic analogue sets such as 500, 554, 2500, Contempra, etc.
  • 1A2 systems, key equipment, switches, wiring components
  • Manuals, programming guides, signage, or historical documentation

3. Technical Information & Expertise
We welcome configuration details, wiring diagrams, programming knowledge, or operational insight—particularly for Centurion and Millennium systems.

4. Community Participation
We invite anyone interested in restoration, historical research, exhibit design, or technical teaching to get involved. Leads on equipment removals or decommissioned units are especially appreciated.

If you have information, equipment, or expertise to share, we would be delighted to hear from you.
